Millikin Swimming Open with Virtual Competition

The Millikin men's and women's swimming teams opened its 2020-21 season with a virtual meet against Carroll University. The Big Blue swimmers turned in their times at the Decatur YMCA while the Pioneers swam in Waukesha, Wis.

In the men's competition, Carroll won 94-60 and the in women's competition Carroll won 111-88.

Brigid Duesterhaus led the Millikin women with wins in the 100 Freestyle (58.16) and the 200 Freestyle (2:05.01). Other Big Blue women posting event wins were freshman Taylen Zahnow in the 1000 Freestyle (11:35.44), Olivia Marquardt in the 100 Butterfly (1:02.67) and Laura Atkinson in the 100 Breaststroke (1:14.82).

The Millikin men had two double event winners with Nick Nemeth finishing first in the 100 Breaststroke (1:06.40) and the 200 IM (2:17.99) and Vlad Molin winning the 50 Freestyle (22.24) and 100 Freestyle (50.56). Joe Smiley won the 100 Butterfly (1:08.06).
