Big Blue Swimming Competes at Carroll University

The Big Blue men's and women's swimming teams traveled to Waukesha, Wis. on Saturday, November 6 to match up against the Pioneers of Carroll University in a dual meet. Millikin women's swimming defeated Carroll 125-80, and the men fell 61-129.

Several Millikin women's swimmers took first place in their races. Katie Yelaska took first in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 12:10.72. Avery Fisher took second in the race with a time of 12:21.06. Brigid Duesterhaus was the victor in the 200 yard freestyle with her finals time of 2:03.17. Liv Marquardt posted the top time in the 50 yard freestyle with her time of 26.46.

Aly Barnes notched the top time in the women's 200 yard IM in a time of 2:23.25. Grace Meacham took the second time in the race in 2:29.76, and Kendall Rossignol took third in 2:30.58. Marquardt posted her second individual win of the day in a time of 1:00.99 in the 100 yard backstroke. Duesterhaus claimed her second victory of the day in the 500 yard freestyle in a time of 5:45.93. Laura Atkinson took a win in the 100 yard breaststroke, posting a time of 1:13.82 in the finals, with Rossignol and Katie Yelaska taking the second and third slots.

The Big Blue's 200 yard medley relay team took the top slot with their time of 1:55.45. The men's 200 yard medley relay team took second with their time of 1:50.87. Millikin's women's 200 yard freestyle relay team placed first with a time of 1:49.23. The men's 200 yard freestyle relay team placed second.

Dawsen Loafman took the top slot in the men's 50 yard freestyle in his time of 23.88. Diogomaye Bamba finished second in the race with his time of 23.94.

Other swimmers who earned points in their races included Shay Buchanan in the 1000 yard freestyle, Omar Ayad in third in the men's 1000 yard freestyle and third in the 100 yard breaststroke, Mark Miller in fourth in the 1000 yard freestyle, and Brianna Brunk in fifth in the 200 yard freestyle. Justin Maniago took second place in the men's 200 freestyle, and Kade Zanger placed fourth in the race. Kaitlyn Mayer took fourth in the 50 yard freestyle. Carter Noyes took second place in the 200 yard IM, and Kenneth Hamlin was right behind Noyes with a third place finish. Mayer placed for a second time in third place in the 100 yard butterfly. Amanda Fathman and Jaden Lockard took fourth and fifth to score points for the Big Blue.

Bamba posted his second scoring finish of the day in the 100 yard butterfly in third place. Barnes placed second in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 57.54, and Meacham took fourth in the race. Erin Powell placed fifth in the 100 yard backstroke. Buchanan was third in the 500 yard freestyle, and Brunk placed fifth.

Loafman posted his second scoring finish of the day in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 52.27 in the finals. Hamlin placed third in the 100 yard backstroke, and Miller was close behind in fourth. Maniago was second in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:31.72, Zanger placed fourth in the race. Noyes was fifth in the 100 yard breaststroke.
