Women's Volleyball Sweeps Augustana in Season Opener

The Millikin Women's Volleyball team began their season with a CCIW victory over the Augustana College Vikings 3-0.

The Big Blue were led at the net with ten kills from sophomore Tori Stuart, and MacMurray transfer junior Kamryn Flesner added nine kills along with four service aces. Senior setter Sarah Bingenheimer tallied 24 assists and added two service aces for MU.  Senior libero Alyssa Vignos had ten digs for the Big Blue.

Millikin began the first set on an 8-1 run and never looked back. Two service aces by Flesner late in the set helped seal a 25-10 victory for the Big Blue. The second set also began with an 8-1 run by the Big Blue, and they finished out the set on a 7-0 run, taking down the Vikings 25-11. Senior Madison Clarida and junior Lauren Brummel combined for a block to secure the 25th point for the Big Blue.

Set three saw Millikin take down Augustana 25-16. The Big Blue were able to stymie the Vikings offense down the stretch and complete the 3-0 sweep in their first CCIW matchup. 

The Vikings were led by Brook Feldman with five kills and Olivia Doak with nine assists. 

Big Blue Women's Volleyball will be back in action Sunday, February 28 at home against Carroll University.
