Millikin Men’s Basketball Falls in Regular Season Finale

          The Millikin men's basketball team lost to Carroll University 66-60 to close out the 2020-21 regular season on March 2 at the Griswold Center in Decatur, Illinois.
          Millikin turned in a solid first half and went into the locker room up 29-21. The Big Blue led for 26 minutes of the game with its largest lead of 12 coming in the first half. Carroll took its first lead of the game with 10 minutes remaining in the second half.
Millikin would tie the game at 46-46 with eight minutes remaining before the Pioneers would go on an 8-0 run to open up a 54-46 advantage.
          Millikin shot 20-49 (41 percent) from the field and made 5-16 (31 percent) from three point range. The Big Blue converted on 15-19 from the free throw line. Carroll hit on 47 percent (22-47) of its shots making 10-22 (46 percent) from three-point range. Carroll hit 7-13 from beyond the arc to fuel its second half run. The Pioneers were 12-15 (80 percent) from the free throw line.
          Millikin's top scorer was Calvin Fisher with 16 point followed by Michael Akinwumi added 10 points and six rebounds. Scott Gowan chipped in 10 points.
          Carroll's top scorer was Tarren Hall with 21 points followed by Justin Gruber with 18.
          Millikin ends the regular season at 1-11 while Carroll goes to 5-7. The Big Blue will face the top seed Wheaton College in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Basketball Tournament on March 6.
