Millikin Baseball Wins Sixth Straight

        The Millikin baseball team continued its historic start to the season winning its sixth straight game defeating Illinois Wesleyan University 8-3 on March 24 in Bloomington, Illinois. The Big Blue are now 11-1 overall and 4-0 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin.
        Millikin opened the scoring with a RBI single from Gabe Soria in the third inning. Frank Bryan's home run made it 2-0 Big Blue in the top of the fourth.
        The Titans answered with three runs in the bottom of the fifth. A two-run double from Jack Schneider was the big hit in the inning for Illinois Wesleyan.
        Millikin tied the game at 3-3 in the sixth. Tommy Shaw opened the inning with a single and would later score on a wild pitch.
        The Big Blue took the lead in the top of the seventh. Brent Beals had a one out double and scored on a single by Bryan.
        Millikin pushed across five insurance runs in the top of the ninth to secure the victory.
        Shaw ended the game 3-5 with two runs scores and one RBI. Bryan, Beals, Andrew Auton and Tanner Coleman each had two hits.
        Michael Staszcuk was the winning pitcher in relief throwing one and two-thirds innings allowing one hit and no runs. Beals pitched the final inning and a third retiring all four batters he faced to earn the save.
