Millikin Baseball Suffers Conference Road Loss

The Millikin baseball team dropped a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) contest at Augustana College 10-6 on April 21 in Rock Island, Illinois. Millikin is now 19-5 overall and 12-4 in CCIW play. Augustana improves to 20-5, 12-5.
 
The Vikings took a 2-0 lead after single runs in the first two innings. Millikin made it a 2-1 game in the third on a sacrifice fly from Brent Beal. Augustana led 4-1 after four innings. Millikin tied the game with three runs in the top of the fifth. Beals started the scoring with a home run. Tanner Coleman had an RBI single and Andrew Auton had a sacrifice fly for the other two Big Blue runs in the inning. Augustana blew open the game with a six run bottom of the fifth inning helped by two Millikin errors.
 
Coleman was 2-5 for Millikin with two RBI.
 
Leadoff hitter Michael Gattuso paced the Augustana attack going 2-3 with two runs scored and three RBI. Alex Simon was 2-5 with an RBI triple. Zachary Vrbancic had two hits and two RBI for the Vikings.
 
Millikin has a key three game series on April 24-25 against 11th ranked and CCIW leader North Central College. The two teams are scheduled to play a doubleheader in Decatur on Saturday and a single game in Naperville on Sunday.
