Big Blue Women's Volleyball Ranked for Third Straight Week

Big Blue women's volleyball is ranked in the AVCA Division III poll for the third straight week. The poll, released Tuesday, September 14 ranked Millikin at #17, falling two spots from last week's ranking of #15 after splitting at the UChicago Invite.

Millikin defeated formerly #9, now #20 Transylvania at the UChicago Invite in five sets (23-25, 25-17, 25-20, 26-28, 15-10). Tori Stuart led the Big Blue with 20 kills, and Kailee Itzenhuiser added 15. Julianna Vassallo was the digs leader with 29. Anna Deutschmann tallied a career high seven aces against the Pioneers.

In the second match of the day, the Big Blue once again took the match to five sets but were defeated by now 25th ranked Concordia University-Wisconsin (25-15, 22-25, 25-19, 23-25, 11-15). Jessi Kreder tallied 17 kills in the loss, Vassallo tabbed a career high five aces and 30 digs. Olivia Grbavac tallied 43 assists to lead MU.

Millikin is set to match up against their first College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin opponent of the 2021 season on Wednesday, September 15 in Carthage College. The Firebirds remain the only other CCIW squad in the Top 25, falling from the fifth slot to #15 in this week's poll.
