Women's Volleyball Completes 4-0 Weekend at Home

The Big Blue women's volleyball team completed their weekend at the Millikin Invitational in Decatur, Ill. with a 4-0 record. After two day one wins against Webster and Greenville, Millikin matched up against Central College and Illinois College on the second day of competition at the Griswold Center. 

In the first match of the day, the Big Blue defeated Central 3-1 (20-25, 25-23, 25-18, 25-22). Tori Stuart was the kills leader with 19. Jessi Kreder added 12, and Kamryn Flesner tallied 10. Kailee Itzenhuiser led Millikin in aces with two and in digs with 14. Kreder notched four digs, and Olivia Grbavac added 43 assists. Julianna Vassallo tallied 13 digs, and Sophia Howell added 11.

The Dutch were led by Krissa Larson and Natalie Gaszynski at the net with ten kills apiece. Millikin dropped the first set of the match before coming back to win three in a row. 

In their final match of the tournament, Millikin swept Illinois College (25-13, 25-11, 25-18). Stuart once again was the leader in the kills column with 14. Grbavac tallied four aces, and Itzenhuiser was credited with three. Kreder and Sophia Gibbs tallied two kills apiece and Vassallo added 11 digs to her season total. Grbavac tallied 30 more assists in the win. 

An All-Tournament Team will be determined shortly.

The Big Blue will take on their second CCIW opponent of the season on Wednesday, September 22 when North Park travels to Decatur, Ill.
