Millikin Women Suffer First CCIW Loss

The Millikin women lost its first College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) game of the season falling at Illinois Wesleyan 73-51 on January 19 at the Shirk Center in Bloomington, Illinois.
 
The loss breaks Millikin's 10 game winning streak and drops the Big Blue to 13-4 overall and 7-1 in the CCIW. The 7-0 start to conference play was the best start in CCIW action for Millikin since the 2001-02 team. Illinois Wesleyan improves to 10-6 overall and 7-0 in the CCIW.
 
Millikin struggled with the Titans' pressure defense committing 25 turnovers that led to 31 Illinois Wesleyan points. The Big Blue trailed 18-10 at the end of the first quarter and were down 37-19 at the half.
 
The Big Blue shot 39 percent (19-49) from the field. Millikin shot 4-15 in the opening quarter but bounced back to shoot 8-11 (73 percent) in the third quarter. Millikin was 5-14 (36 percent) from three-point range.
Illinois Wesleyan shot 38 percent (28-69) and went 8-23 (35 percent) from three-point range. The Titans won the rebounding battle 42-35.
 
Elyce Knudsen led Millikin with a double double with 20 points and 13 rebounds. Aubrey Staton added nine points.
 
Kate Palmer led Illinois Wesleyan with 20 points followed by Lauren Huber with 15.
