Millikin Men’s Basketball Opens Season with Victory

The Millikin men's basketball team opened the 2022-23 season with a 64-56 win at Illinois College in Jacksonville, Illinois on November 12.
 
Millikin had a 29-19 advantage at halftime and maintained a lead throughout the second half. The Big Blue shot 53 percent from the field (25-47) for the game and made 5-15 (33 percent) from three-point range.
Millikin was 9-12 from the free throw line. The Millikin defense limited Illinois College to 20-67 (30 percent) from the field including 6-25 (24 percent) from three-point range. Illinois College won the rebounding battle 40-35.
 
The Big Blue had a balance attack led by Demarcus Bond with 14 points, six rebounds and five assists. Drake Stevenson scored 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds. JT Welch added 13 and Noah Livingston scored nine.
 
Jake Mazrimas led Illinois College with 12 points.
