Millikin Men’s Basketball Wins at Eureka

After scoring 120 points in its win at Greenville on Tuesday, the Millikin men's basketball team won a low scoring contest 60-58 at Eureka College on November 17 in Eureka, Illinois.
 
The game was a tight contest throughout with Millikin holding its largest lead of the game of seven points 13-7 with 10:50 left to play in the first half. The Big Blue held a 25-23 advantage at halftime.
 
Millikin would never trail in the second half holding a lead by as many as six points. Three of the game's seven ties would come in the second half. The final tie of the game came at the 50-50 with 3:32 remaining in the game. Millikin's JT Welch would put the Big Blue up 52-50 with 3:03 left. Baskets by Frazier Ott and Noah Livingston would give Millikin a 56-50 advantage with 1:22 to play. The Red Devils would make one last run with Ben Carter hitting a three-pointer with 59 seconds remaining to make it a 56-53 game. Demarcus Bond would find Ott breaking to the basket for a dunk to make it 58-53 Big Blue with 33 seconds left on the clock. With 17 seconds remaining, Austyn Ellison hit a three-pointer for Eureka pulling them to within two at 58-56. Millikin's Drake Stevenson make it 59-56 with 12 seconds remaining with a free throw. Noah Persich would get a putback with three second left to make it 59-58. Livingston would score Millikin's final point with .5 left to play to make it a 60-58 final.
 
Ott would lead the way for Millikin with 14 points and nine rebounds. Livingston finished with 13 followed by Welch with 12. Bond had eight rebounds, four assists and scored two points.
 
Ellison scored 22 points to lead Eureka.
 
Millikin shot 24-58 (41 percent) from the field while Eureka made 22-60 from the field. Both teams had 38 rebounds.
 
Millikin improves to 3-0 and returns to action on Saturday at 4 p.m. in its home opener at 4 p.m.  Eureka falls to 1-3.
