Big Blue Swimming Competes with Carroll

The Big Blue men's and women's swim teams competed with the Pioneers of Carroll University on Saturday, November 5. The men's team pulled out a 108-75 victory, while the women fell by a 96-109 margin.

In the first event of the day, the Millikin 400 yard medley relay team of Emma Cox, Kendall Rossignol, Kaitlyn Mayer, and Amanda Fathman placed first in a time of 4:27.34. On the men's side, Dawsen Loafman, Aaron Amaya, Jack Hughes, and KJ Hamlin teamed up for a second place finish in 3:55.57.

Sarahi Villafana and Shay Buchanan placed in the top two slots in the women's 1000 yard freestyle, with Villafana taking first in a time of 12:06.92 and Buchanan in second in 12:33.63. Brianna Brunk placed fourth. In the men's event, Justin Maniago placed second, and Mark Miller took third.

Aly Barnes was the victor in the women's 200 yard freestyle race in a time of 2:01.97. Hughes placed first in the men's race in 1:57.97, and Blake Wiebe placed fourth.

Villafana was the top women's finisher in the women's 50 yard freestyle, while Loafman took first in the men's race in his time of 23.10. Lucas Ruda was third, and Jason Burrow placed fourth.

In the women's 400 IM, Rossignol placed second, and Natalie Buchanan was fourth. Msanaa Bosland placed first in the men's race in a time of 4:46.70. Amaya took second in a time of 5:02.00.

Mayer picked up an individual victory in the 100 yard butterfly in a time of 1:04.78, and Kally Saenz took fourth. On the men's side, Hughes placed first for his second individual victory of the day, and Miller and Burrow took second and third.

In the 100 yard freestyle, Mayer placed third and Fathman took fourth. On the men's side, Ruda took second in a time of 54.87 and Hamlin was third.

Barnes took her second victory of the day in the 100 yard backstroke in a time of 1:05.89, and Loafman took the top slot in the men's race in a time of 1:00.00. Maniago placed third, and Miller took fourth.

In the women's 500 yard freestyle, Buchanan took second in 6:00.22, and Cox and Rossignol took third and fourth. Bosland was the winner in the men's race in 5:25.23; Burrow placed third.

For her third individual victory of the day, Barnes took the top slot in the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:15.54. Buchanan placed fourth. On the men's side, Amaya was the top finisher in a time of 1:07.60, Wiebe was fourth.

In the 400 yard freestyle relay, the team of Villafana, Fathman, Erin Powell, and Buchanan took second in 4:06.69. The team of Maniago, Hamlin, Bosland, and Ruda took second in the men's race.

The men's team moves to 3-0 on the season. Millikin will be back in action at the University of Chicago Mid-Season Meet from November 18-20.
