Men's Swimming Morgan Vogels

Swimming Downs Beloit, Illinois College at Double Dual Winter Invite

The Big Blue swim team traveled to Jacksonville, Ill. for a double dual against Beloit College and Illinois College at the Illinois College Winter Invite. Millikin defeated both schools on the men's and women's sides, with the men taking down Beloit 104-81 and Illinois College 128-83, while the women picked up a 147-91 victory over Beloit and a 160.5-77.5 win over Illinois College.

The Big Blue men's team picked up a victory in the 200 yard medley relay with Msanaa Bosland, Aaron Amaya, Jack Hughes, and Justin Maniago swimming a 1:46.51. 

Aly Barnes tallied the first individual victory of the day with a win in the 200 yard freestyle in a time of 2:05.62. Kendall Rossignol placed second in her time of 2:11.85. Hughes was the victor on the men's side in his time of 1:56.10, while Maniago placed second in 2:01.60.

In the women's 50-yard backstroke, Emma Cox took second in 32.02, with Grace Meacham, Erin Powell, and Sarahi Villafana following in third-fifth. For the men, KJ Hamlin tallied the top time of 28.89 for a third place finish.

In the 50-yard backstroke, Rossignol placed second in 35.52. On the men's side, Amaya took second in a time of 30.98 and Jason Burrow took third.

Kaitlyn Mayer picked up her first individual victory of the day in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:04.60. Hughes recorded his second win of the day in the men's race.

Mayer placed third in the women's 50 freestyle in a time of 27.92, and on the men's side Bosland notched a third place finish in 23.69.

Meacham was the victor in the 100-yard freestyle in 1:00.18 and Villafana recorded a second place finish. For the men, Maniago took second in 52.92.

For her second individual win of the day, Barnes placed first in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:04.77. On the men's side, Bosland tallied an individual win in a time of 1:02.76.

Rossignol took second in the 100-yard breaststroke in her time of 1:17.20. In the women's 500-yard freestyle, Shay Buchanan was the victor in a time of 6:00.24 with Villafana taking second. On the men's side, Maniago placed first in his time of 5:44.56.

Mayer tallied her second individual victory of the afternoon in the women's 50-yard butterfly in a time of 29.12. For the men, Amaya took a second place finish in the men's race with a time of 28.00.
Barnes topped the leaderboard again in the 100 yard IM with a time of 1:05.38, while in the men's race Bosland placed third.

The women's team took first in the 200-yard freestyle relay with Meacham, Powell, Barnes, and Mayer swimming a 1:48.07.

The Big Blue will be back in action when they scrimmage the College of Wooster on their training trip on January 7, 2023.
