Strong Second Half Lifts Millikin Women’s Basketball

The Millikin women's basketball team used a strong second half to defeat Carroll University 72-57 at the Griswold Center in Decatur, Illinois on December 17. Millikin improves to 8-3 overall and 4-0 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW). Carroll is now 5-5, 2-1.
 
Millikin led after the first quarter 15-13. Carroll outscored the Big Blue by eight points in the second quarter and took a 34-28 lead into the locker room at halftime. Millikin had a 14-0 run to start the second half and led 42-34 with 6:40 remaining in the third quarter. The Big Blue outscored Carroll 28-13 in the quarter making 9-16 (56 percent) from the field and 4-6 from three-point range.
 
On the game, Millikin shot 45 percent (27-60) from the field and made 7-19 (37 percent) from three-point range. Carroll made 20-50 (40 percent) from the field and went 6-18 from beyond the arc. Millikin had a 33-32 rebounding advantage.  Millikin forced Carroll into 23 turnovers converting those into 30 points.
 
Elyce Knudsen led Millikin with 31 points, three rebounds and three assists. Sarah Isaf added 11 points. Miranda Fox had a team high 11 rebounds along with seven assists and six points.
 
Allison Thompson and Brooke Foster each had 12 points to lead the Pioneers.
 
Millikin will play at Fontbonne on Monday, Dec. 19.
