Millikin Women’s Basketball Wins at Augustana

The Millikin women's basketball team picked up its second straight road win to open the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) season defeating Augustana College 69-54 on December 3 in Rock Island, Illinois.
 
Millikin lead 19-15 at the end of the first quarter and 34-30 at halftime. Millikin took control of the game in the third quarter outscoring the Vikings 16-8 to lead 50-38 at the end of the third quarter. The game had three lead changes and four ties, but Millikin lead the game for over 33 minutes.
 
The Big Blue shot 24-58 (41 percent) from the field and made 6-15 (40 percent) from three-point range. Millikin was 15-18 from the free throw line. Millikin won the rebounding battle 46-33. The Big Blue limited second change opportunities for Augustana with 36 defensive rebounds. The Vikings shot 33 percent (20-61) from the field and struggled from three-point range making on 4-26 (15 percent).
 
Elyce Knudsen led Millikin with 26 points and eight rebounds. Emily White had 14 points and seven rebounds. Abby Ratsch had a team high nine rebounds and four points. Miranda Fox had seven points, seven rebounds and five assists.
 
Matayia Tellis and Macy Beinborn each scored 11 points to lead the Vikings.
 
Millikin is now 5-3, 2-0 while Augustana goes to 6-2, 1-1. The Big Blue will play a non-conference game on December 7 hosting DePauw University at 7 p.m. Millikin returns to CCIW action on Saturday, Dec. 10 against Carthage College at 2 p.m.
