Millikin Tames the Tigers

The Millikin women's basketball team scored a dominating win over DePauw University 70-42 in a non-conference game in the Griswold Center in Decatur, Illinois. The Big Blue enjoyed returning to its home floor after playing seven of its first eight games away from the Griswold Center.
 
Millikin lead 16-11 after the first quarter and pulled out to a 31-23 advantage at halftime. The Big Blue took control of the game in the third quarter outscoring the Tigers 22-8 to lead 53-31 after three quarters. Millikin led the entire game and went up by 31 points with eight minutes left to play in the game.
 
Millikin had three players score in double figures led by Elyce Knudsen with 22 points and five rebounds. Sophie Darden scored 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Sarah Isaf scored 12 points making 4-5 from three-point range. Chelsea McCullum added nine points.
 
Diana Burgher and Mya Shannon led DePauw with 12 points each. Shannon broke the 1,000 point career scoring mark for Tigers and now has 1,010 points.
 
Millikin shot 45.8 percent (27-59) from the field and made 7-18 (39 percent) from three-point range. The Big Blue held the Tigers to 27 percent (17-62) shooting from the field with DePauw going 1-9 from three-point range.  
 
Millikin is now 6-3 while DePauw falls to 4-4. The Big Blue return to College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin action on Saturday hosting Carthage College at 2 p.m.
