Millikin Women Defeat Greenville

The Millikin women's basketball team closed out 2022 and the non-conference portion of its schedule with an 81-63 win over Greenville University on December 31 at the Griswold Center in Decatur, Illinois.
 
After breaking a 7-7 tie early in the first quarter, Millikin lead the rest of the game. The Big Blue were up 21-13 at the end of the first quarter and 37-25 at halftime. Millikin's largest lead of the game was 22 points midway through the fourth quarter.
 
Millikin shot 53 percent from the field (36-68), but struggled from three-point range making on 2-18. Greenville shot 44 percent (23-52) from the field and was 4-16 from three-point range. Millikin won the rebounding battle 39-27. Both teams showed some rust from the holiday layoff combining for 58 turnovers.
 
Millikin had three players score in double figures led by Elyce Knudsen with 17 points, five rebounds and five assists. Sophie Darden had a double double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Chelsea McCullum scored 16 points along with four steals and three assists. The Big Blue welcomed back senior Bailey Coffman who missed the first 12 games of the season with a broken jaw. In her first action of the year, Coffman scored eight points. Abby Ratsch had nine points.
 
Emily Reinneck led Greenville with 19 points and six rebounds. Ally Cantrill and Savana Powell-Godman each added 11 points.
 
Millikin is now 10-3 while Greenville falls to 7-4.
