Hot Shooting Lifts Millikin Men to Road Victory

The Millikin men's basketball team converted a strong shooting performance into an 85-75 win at Blackburn College in a non-conference contest on December 6 in Carlinville, Illinois.
 
Millikin shot 51 percent (29-57) from the field and made 11-28 (39 percent) from three-point range. The Big Blue were boosted by a career high 27 points from JT Welch who converted on 8-11 from three-point range along with 3-3 from the free throw line. Drake Stevenson had his second double double of the season scoring 15 points and grabbing a career high 14 rebounds. Demarcus Bond added 11 points, six rebounds and six assists.
 
Millikin lead 46-35 at halftime and pushed the advantage out to 18 points with 9:20 left in the game. The Big Blue held the lead for more than 37 minutes in the contest. Millikin won the rebounding battle 39-28.
 
Blackburn shot 44 percent (25-57) from the field going 6-23 from three-point range. The Beavers' top scorer was Chanz Aldridge with 26 points. Izayah Talmadge with 15 points and nine rebounds.
 
Millikin is now 6-3 while Blackburn goes to 3-4. The Big Blue return to conference play on Saturday hosting Carthage College at 4:15 p.m.
