Millikin Baseball Wins at Rhodes

The Millikin baseball team picked up its first win of the season defeating Rhodes College 9-5 on February 13 in Memphis, Tenn.
 
Trailing 1-0, Millikin got on the board with a two-run third inning highlighted by a two run double by Kyle Gibson.  After Rhodes tied the game at 2-2, Millikin broke open the game with a four-run fifth and three runs in the sixth inning. The big blow in the fifth inning was three-run home run by Garrett Fritz.
 
Gibson ended the day going 2-5 at the plate. Keagan Brady was 2-5 with a triple. Jacob Havis and Andy Niebrugge each collected two hits for the Big Blue with Niebrugge scoring two runs. Frank Bryan had a two-run single for Millikin in the sixth inning.
 
Starter Drew Detmers pitched four and one-third innings for Millikin allowing five hits and two earned runs. Aaron Agee threw three and a third innings of relief allowing one hit and one run with two strikeouts.
 
John McNair led the Rhodes offense going 2-3 with a home run and two RBI. Bryce Anderson and Ben Burkhart each had two hits.
 
Millikin is now 1-2 on the season while Rhodes falls to 1-2.
