Baseball Sweeps Doubleheader at Sewanee

The Millikin University baseball team swept a doubleheader at Sewanee University of the South on February 19 in Sewanee, Tennessee. The Big Blue improved to 3-2 on the while the Tigers fall to 2-3.
 
Millikin won game one 7-1 behind the starting pitching of Caleb Buehrle who allowed only two hits over seven innings while striking out eight.
Aaron Agee pitched the final two innings for the Big Blue allowing two hits with two strikeouts.
 
The Big Blue jumped out to an early 1-0 on a run scoring single from Tanner Coleman in the first inning. Millikin added two runs in the third on an RBI single from Garrett Fritz and a sacrifice fly from Coleman. Fritz added a solo home run in the fifth to make it a 4-0 lead for Millikin.
 
Wesley House doubled home an unearned run for Swanee in the seventh to make it 4-1. The Big Blue added three insurance runs in the eighth with Liam McGill driving home a run with a triple. Tommy Shaw and Kyle Gibson each had an RBI doubles.
 
Fritz was 4-4 at the plate with Gibson picking up two hits and scoring two runs.
 
Millikin won game two 8-3 in a seven inning contest. The Big Blue jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the second, but the Tigers tied the game in the bottom of the inning. Millikin added single runs in the third, fourth, and sixth innings. The Big Blue added two runs in the seventh.
 
Coleman went 2-3 with a double to pace the Millikin offense. He scored two runs and drove in one. Gibson had two hits for Millikin with an RBI. Freshman Andy Niebrugge was 1-3 with two runs scored and two RBI.
 
Coleman was the winning pitcher in relief throwing four and one-third innings allowing three hits and no runs while striking out seven.
  
Wade Sansone and Drew Noblet each had two hits for Sewanee.
 
The two teams will complete the series on Sunday with a single game starting at 12 p.m.
