Millikin Baseball Splits with Dubuque

The Millikin baseball team split a doubleheader with the University of Dubuque at the Workman Family Baseball Field in Decatur on March 13. Millikin won game one 8-3 while the Spartans took game two 13-9.
 
In game one, Millikin took a 3-1 lead after three innings. Dubuque tied the game with two runs in the fourth. The Big Blue broke the game open with two runs in the seventh and three runs in eighth.
 
Tommy Shaw and Liam McGill each had two hits and scored two runs at the top of the Big Blue lineup. McGill drove in one. Frank Bryan had three hits including a triple and drove in one. Garrett Fritz and Tanner Coleman each had two hits and two RBI. Kyle Gibson and Keagan Brady each had two hits for Millikin.
 
Coleman was the winning pitcher in relief throwing four innings allowing no runs on three hits.
 
Mitch Pomeroy had three hits including a triple Dubuque and scored two runs.  
 
Game two was a slugfest with the two teams combining for 22 runs and 31 hits.
The Spartans jumped out to an 11-1 lead heading into the bottom of the fourth inning. The Big Blue kept battling all game scoring three runs in both the fourth and fifth inning and plating two runs in the eighth.
 
Fritz had two hits including a double and three RBI to pace the Big Blue. Shaw, Bryan and Coleman each had two hits with a double. McGill scored two runs and had two hits.
 
Pomeroy had three hits for the Spartans and scored three runs. Colton Pfeifer was 4-5 with three RBI and two runs scored. Hayden Iacolucci had three hits with two runs scored and two runs driven in.
 
Millikin is now 11-4 while Dubuque goes to 6-3.
