Millikin Baseball Rolls Over Illinois College

The Millikin baseball team swept a doubleheader over Illinois College on March 19 at the Workman Family Baseball Field in Decatur. The games were moved from Jacksonville to Decatur due to wet field conditions. The Big Blue won game one 9-5 and took the second game 17-0 in seven innings.
 
Millikin had six hits in game one and took advantage of eight Illinois College walks and four hit batters. The Big Blue broke open the game with a five run third inning highlighted by a two-run double by Kyle Gibson.
Freshman shortstop Liam McGill had two hits including a triple and drove in two runs for Millikin.
 
Caleb Buehrle improved to 4-1 on the season picking up the win with six innings of work allowing six hits and three earned runs
 
The second game was all Millikin as the Big Blue pounds out 16 hits and drew eight walks. Freshman Andy Niebrugge led the Millikin offense going 3-3 including his first career home run a three-run shot. Niebrugge scored four runs and drove home six. Tommy Shaw, Frank Bryan Tanner Coleman and Gibson each had two hits for Millikin.
 
Five Millikin pitchers combined to shutout the Blue Boys. Starter Matt Wilson pitched three scoreless innings allowing two hits and two walks. Max Simpson was the winner in relief throwing one inning allowing only one hits. Drew Detmers, Christian Badorek and Landon Johnson each threw a scoreless innings.
 
Millikin improves to 13-4 on the season while Illinois College falls to 5-8.
