Millikin Baseball Wins 10th Straight

The Millikin baseball team won its 10th straight game defeating Coe College 2-1 at the Workman Family Baseball Field in Decatur, Illinois on March 5.

The winning streak is the most consecutive wins for a Millikin team since 1947 when the Big Blue were 11-0.

For the third time this week, the Big Blue won in walk-off fashion. Tanner Coleman started a ninth inning rally with a lead-off single. After a sacrifice bunt and two walks, pinch runner Ethan Current scored on a sacrifice fly by Tommy Shaw.

Trailing 1-0, Millikin tied the game in the sixth inning on a run scoring single from Coleman.

Coe scored a run in the fourth on back-to-back doubles from Reid Rausch and Creighton Kreshel.

Shaw and Coleman each had two hits for Millikin.

Millikin got great pitching from three players. Drew Detmers started the game and went five innings allowing one run on four hits. Max Simpson pitched two and one-third innings in relief without allowing a hit. Aaron Agee was the winning pitcher throwing an inning and two-thirds allowing just one hit while striking out three.

Millikin is now 10-2 while Coe goes to 1-1.
