Big Blue Baseball Splits Road Doubleheader

The Millikin baseball team picked up a split in a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) road doubleheader at Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois on April 15.
 
After losing game one, Millikin rallied to take game two 5-1. The story of the game was the outstanding starting pitching performance from Matt Wilson who pitched six and one-third innings allowing just three hits and one earned run while striking out six. Caleb Buehrle picked up the save throwing two and two-thirds innings allowing just two hits and one walk with three strikes.
 
Millikin got on the board in the third inning when Garrett Fritz drew a bases loaded walk. Kyle Gibson tripled and scored in the fifth inning two make it a 2-0 Big Blue lead. Tyler Gade had an RBI single in the seventh to make it 3-0 Millikin.
 
Augustana scored a run in the bottom of the seventh, but Millikin answered with two in the eighth coming on a Frank Bryan home run and a Keagan Brady run scoring single.
 
Gibson had three hits for Millikin with Lucas Ryan adding two hits. Kyle Campbell had two of the Vikings five hits.
 
Millikin dropped game one 9-5. The Big Blue jumped out to an early 2-0 in the top of the first. Millikin led 3-1 after three innings before the Vikings tied the game in the bottom of the fourth. Both teams scored single runs in the fifth before Augustana broke open the game with a five run sixth inning.
 
Bryan led Millikin going 3-5 with a double and two RBI. Fritz and Tommy Shaw each had two hits including a double.
 
Campbell had two hits including a triple and three RBI for the Vikings. Brett Benedetti had two hits with a double. Zachary Vrbanic homered for Augustana.
