Women's Tennis Victorious at Coe

Box Score The Big Blue women's tennis team traveled to Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Saturday, April 2 for a matchup with the Kohawks of Coe College. Millikin was victorious in the non-conference matchup 6-3.

In doubles play, Nikol Obradovic and Taylor Milholland picked up the first victory, taking an 8-0 contest over Claudia Bilkey and Eliza Sundermann at No. 3. Emily Markus and Paige Willer teamed up for an 8-6 win over Emma Lassen and Isabella Hoppenjans at No. 1, then Brianna Barconi and Destiny Galvan completed the doubles sweep with an 8-6 victory at No. 2 over Maddie Schultz and Jania Johnson.

Coe tallied their first win in the first match to finish in singles with Lassen victorious over Willer at No. 4 with 4-6, 3-6 set scores. Markus fell at No. 2 after winning the first set 6-2, Hoppenjans rallied to take two straight sets by a 1-6 margin. Obradovic notched a win at No. 1, starting with a 6-2 victory against Schultz in the first set. She fell 2-6 in the second set, but bounced back to take set three 6-0. Barconi secured the win for the Big Blue, taking No. 3 doubles over Johnson, winning set one 7-5, falling in set two 4-6, and taking set three by a score of 6-0. Galvan earned the final win of the afternoon for MU, defeating Sundermann in a tiebreak set at No. 6. Losing the first set 3-6, Galvan took set two 6-2 then won the tiebreaker set 10-7. In the final match to finish, Milholland was defeated by Bilkey in a tiebreaker at No. 5. Milholland took set one 6-1, then fell 2-6 in the second set before losing 14-16 in the last set.

The Big Blue women's tennis team will play one final home match in their spring campaign on Saturday, April 23 against Elmhurst University at the Fairview Park Tennis Complex.
