Big Blue Baseball Rolls over Thunder

The Millikin baseball team scored a road conference win over Wheaton College 9-1 on April 21 in Carol Stream, Illinois.
 
The Big Blue got a stellar starting pitching performance from Tanner Coleman who pitched a complete game allowing one earned run while scattering nine hits. Coleman had six strikeouts.
 
The Big Blue scored three runs in the second inning and two in the third to take control of the game. Millikin added a run in the fifth, two in the sixth and one in the seventh. The Thunder scored its lone run in the eighth inning.
 
Millikin had 12 hits and drew 10 walks. The Big Blue were active on the bases with six steals. Kyle Gibson, Coleman, Frank Bryan and Tommy Shaw each had two hits for the Big Blue. Shaw drove home two with Coleman and Lucas Ryan also picking up an RBI. Gibson, Garrett Fritz, Ryan and Liam McGill each drew two walks. McGill and Tyler Gade each had two stolen bases.
 
Ben Weaver was 2-3 with an RBI for the Thunder.
 
Millikin is now 19-12 overall and 5-6 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin. Wheaton is now 11-16, 7-5. The Big Blue host Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday, April 23 in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
