The #23 ranked Millikin softball team split a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) battle for first place at Illinois Wesleyan on April 26 in Bloomington, Illinois. After losing game one 3-2 in eight innings, the Big Blue rallied to win game two 4-0.

Millikin improved to 27-5 overall and 9-3 in the CCIW. Illinois Wesleyan is now 19-12 and 7-3 in conference play. The Big Blue have played two more conference games giving them the edge in the conference standings.

Addison Sargent and
Camryn Skundberg were the story of game two. Skundberg homered in the fourth inning to get the Big Blue on the board. In the sixth, the Big Blue added a on a run scoring single by
Grace Biondo. Skundberg hit her second home run of the game this time a two-run blast to give Millikin a 4-0 lead.

Sargent pitched six shutout innings holding the Titans to just two hits while striking out five. Sargent improves to 12-1 on the season. Â

Illinois Wesleyan took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the third. Jen Kuhn hit a solo home run to tie the game. The Titans second run resulted from a Millikin error and a bases loaded walk draw by Ava Khoury.

Millikin tied the game in the fifth. Foreman had a two out single and scored on a double from Biondo.

The Titans won game one in the bottom of the eighth when Khoury hit a sacrifice fly to score Madison Moore who had opened the inning with a double.

Davison, Foreman and Skundberg each had two hits for Millikin. Starting pitcher
Aly Armstrong tied a career high with 12 strikeouts.

The Big Blue have four CCIW games remaining while the Titans still have six games to play. Millikin's doubleheader against Carthage College that was scheduled for Saturday has been moved to Friday due to weather concerns. The action will begin at 3 p.m. at the Workman Family Softball Field. The Big Blue play at Augustana on May 1.
