Millikin's Sargent named CCIW Pitcher of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Illinois Wesleyan's Hayley Earl and Millikin's Addison Sargent were selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Softball Student-Athletes of the Week on Tuesday.

Earl, a senior catcher from Washington, Illinois and Washington High School, hit .636 (7-for-11) with three runs, three doubles, one home run, seven RBI and a 1.182 slugging percentage for the 3-0 Titans last week. She also finished with a .636 on-base percentage and no strikeouts. Earl went 4-for-4 with five RBI in a 9-0 shutout of Chicago on April 2. She hit a walk-off home run against the Maroons that ended the game in six innings. Earl then went 2-for-3 in a 5-2 win over UW-Whitewater on April 3, followed by a two-RBI game in the Titans' 6-1 win over Chicago later in the day. Defensively, Earl played catcher in all 20 innings without yielding a stolen base.

Sargent, a junior pitcher from Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Mt. Vernon High School, pitched the Big Blue to a 3-0 shutout of Wheaton on April 2. She pitched all seven innings and gave up just two hits and struck out six batters to complete the double-header sweep of the Thunder in the CCIW opener for Millikin.
