Millikin Baseball Wins Seventh Straight

The Millikin baseball team won its seventh straight game scoring an 8-2 victory at Carroll University on May 1 in Waukesha, Wis.
 
Pitcher Tanner Coleman had his second straight stellar outing on the mound for Millikin to improve to 5-4 on the season. Coleman pitched eight innings allowing seven hits and one earned run while striking out 11. He collected three hits at the plate and scored two runs.
 
Millikin jumped out early when shortstop Liam McGill tripled home two runs in the second inning. Coleman doubled to open the third inning and scored on a single by Garrett Fritz. Lucas Ryan drove in Millikin's fourth run of the game in the inning on a ground out. The Big Blue scored four runs in the seventh thanks to in part to two Pioneers errors. Fritz doubled home two runs in the inning. Frank Bryan then doubled home Fritz to make it 7-1 and Tommy Shaw's sacrifice fly scored Bryan for Millikin's eighth run.  Fritz and Shaw each had two hits for the Big Blue.
 
Casey Mir had three hits for Carroll. Trevor Benz and Josh Kolb each had two hits.
 
Millikin is now 22-12, 9-6. The Big Blue will play a doubleheader at Carthage College on Monday starting at 12 p.m. The games were originally scheduled for April 30 but were moved to Monday due to weather.
