Millikin Softball atop Region VIII in NCAA Regional Rankings

The Big Blue softball team remained atop the NCAA Division III Regional Rankings in Region VIII in the rankings released Wednesday, May 4. The newly crowned College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Regular Season Champions claimed the top slot with a 29-5 overall record in the 2022 season.

The Regional Rankings are a key component used by the NCAA to select at-large teams for the NCAA Division III Softball Tournament field.

The Region VIII rankings features two other CCIW squads, with North Central in the fifth spot and Illinois Wesleyan claiming ninth. Both teams will trek to Decatur, Ill. for the CCIW Tournament beginning Thursday, May 5 at 1:00 PM. Fourth seeded North Central will match up with #5 Carthage in game one, and Illinois Wesleyan is slated for a round one matchup with #3 Carroll as the #2 seed. The Big Blue will be featured in the third game of the day, with the first pitch scheduled for 5:00 PM against the winner of North Central/Carthage.
