Millikin Women's Tennis Sweeps Illinois College to Open Season

Box Score The Big Blue women's tennis team opened up their 2022-23 season at the Fairview Park Tennis Complex on Thursday, September 1, sweeping Illinois College in a non-conference matchup.

On the doubles side, Nikol Obradovic and Brianna Barconi teamed up at No. 2 singles for an 8-0 win, followed by returning duo Emily Markus and Paige Willer securing an 8-1 victory at No. 1. Rounding out doubles play with an 8-2 win at No. 3 was D Galvan and Katja Carlberg.

On the singles side, the Big Blue continued their dominant play starting with Obradovic picking up twin 6-0 set victories at No. 1. Willer followed suit at No. 2, defeating Hanna Kuene 6-1, 6-0. At No. 4, Cristina Borunda was the victor winning both sets by a 6-1 margin. Taylor Milholland stepped into the No. 5 singles slot and picked up back-to-back 6-0 set wins. To finish out the 9-0 sweep, Barconi took the victory at No. 3 6-1, 6-2, and Alexanderia Ristfeldt opened up her Millikin career with a No. 6 singles win by a 6-3, 6-1 margin.

The Big Blue return to the courts at the Fairview Park Tennis Complex on Saturday, September 3 for the Dororthy McClure Invitational.
