Millikin Volleyball Cruises Past Platteville in Opening Match of Jim Coleman Tournament

The Big Blue women's volleyball team traveled to Aurora, Ill. for the Jim Coleman Memorial Invitational on Friday, September 16 for an opening round matchup with the 9-1 Pioneers of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. 

The Big Blue swept the Pioneers (25-16, 25-13, 25-15), outkilling UW-Platteville 40-24 for an attacking percentage of .333.

"That was a huge win," head coach Debbie Kiick said. "I could not be prouder of our focus, energy, and performance."

Kailee Itzenhuiser led the way offensively with 13 kills, Tori Stuart added 11, and Jessi Kreder tallied nine. Setter Reece Brown added 20 assists and two service aces, while Sandy Brindl posted 13 assists and two aces. Sophia Howell tallied the top number of digs with 13. 

With the win, the Big Blue improve to 8-2 and head into tomorrow's contests against Rose-Hulman and the host Spartans of Aurora with the opportunity to achieve Coach Kiick's 499th and 500th coaching wins on her career.
