Millikin Women’s Basketball Winning Streak Reaches 10

The Millikin women's basketball team won its 10th straight game scoring a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) road win at North Central College 72-57 in Naperville, Illinois on January 14. Millikin is now 13-3 overall and 7-0 in the CCIW.
 
The Big Blue overcame a cold shooting first half to pull out the victory. Millikin shot 21 percent (4-19) from the field in the first quarter and just 37.5 percent (6-16) in the second quarter. North Central shot 9-17 (53 percent) and made 3-5 from three-point range to pull out to a 26-11 at the end of the first quarter. North Central's lead was 39-27 at halftime.
 
Millikin got things rolling in the second half outscoring North Central 20-5 in the third quarter and 25-13 in the fourth quarter. The Big Blue shot much better in the second half making 40 percent (8-20) from the field in the third quarter and 55 percent (11-20) in the fourth quarter. Millikin made 5-9 from three-point range in the second half. While turning up the offense Millikin also turned up the pressure on the defensive end hold North Central to just four field goals in each of the final two quarters. The Cardinals shot just 15 percent (4-27) from the field in the second half. North Central committed 13 turnovers in the second half and 22 in the game. Millikin took the lead for could with 1:15 left in the third quarter on a three-pointer from Elyce Knudsen.
 
Knudsen led Millikin with 24 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Chelsea McCullum and Bailey Coffman each scored 11 points. Sarah Ness contributed seven points and seven rebounds.
 
Allison Pearson led North Central with 14 points followed by Megan Duffy with 13.
 
North Central falls to 4-11, 1-6.
