Swimming Splits with Illinois College, Illinois Wesleyan at Dual Meet

The Big Blue swim teams traveled to Bloomington, Ill. on Friday, January 20 to match up with two familiar squads: Illinois Wesleyan and Illinois College. Millikin split on both sides, with both the men and women defeating Illinois College but falling to Illinois Wesleyan.

On the men's side, MU defeated IC 141-52 and lost to IWU by a 59-155 margin. For the women, they outscored IC 116-94 and fell in the matchup against IWU 59-167.

The men's 200 yard medley relay team of Dawsen Loafman, Aaron Amaya, Justin Maniago, and Mark Miller took a second place finish to begin the meet.

Aly Barnes notched a third place finish in the 100 yard backstroke in a time of 1:05.21. In the men's race, Loafman was the second place finisher in 57.83.

In the women's 100 yard backstroke, Kendall Rossignol finished in second place in a time of 1:14.12. In the men's race, Amaya followed suit with a time of 1:09.75 that earned him a second place finish.

Kaitlyn Mayer placed third in the 50 yard freestyle in 27.48 with Kally Saenz not far behind in fourth.

Barnes recorded a second place finish in a time of 58.31 in the 100 yard freestyle, then Rossignol added another second place finish in the 200 yard breaststroke in a time of 2:39.38. Msanaa Bosland placed second in the men's race in a time of 2:29.31.

Mayer found herself near the top of the leaderboard again in the 100 yard butterfly, placing second with a time of 1:05.35. Freshman Jack Hughes topped the leaderboard in the men's race with a time of 55.27.

In the 200 yard IM, Barnes swam a 2:17.86 to place second. On the men's side, Bosland finished in second place with a 2:10.50 and Amaya took third.

The women's 200 yard freestyle relay team of Mayer, Rossignol, Amanda Fathman, and Barnes placed second in a time of 1:47.86 to finish out the meet.

On a busy weekend, the Big Blue travel to St. Louis, Mo. for the Principia Panther Invite on Saturday, January 21.
