Millikin Cross Country Strong at NCAA Regionals

The Millikin men's and women's cross country teams turned in solid performances at the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional held at the Max Cross Country Course in Pella, Iowa on November 11.

Two Millikin runners turned in All-Region performances and have strong chances of being selected as at-large participants when the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships field is announced on Sunday, Nov. 12. Bradyn Olmstead finished in 23 place in the men's race in a school record time of 24:59.0. Senior Alyssa Ruiz finished in 22nd place in the women's 6K race in 22:13.6, which is the second fastest time in school history.

The individual at-large selections will be made after the at-large teams selections are made. Individual at-larges slots go to runners not on advancing teams.

In the men's race Gabe Bush was 48th in 25:39.8, which is sixth fastest in school history and Julio Hernandez Lopez turned in Millikin's 11th fastest 8K in 25:54.0 to finish in 61st position.

The 2023 DIII men's and women's cross country selections will be released on Sunday, Nov. 12 on NCAA.com.

32 teams per gender will be selected for the championships. Ten on each side will automatically qualify (one per region, from regional championships) while the remaining 22 for each of the men's and women's championships will be picked at large.

The championship race will be at Big Spring High School in Newville, Pennsylvania on Saturday, Nov. 18. It will be streamed live on NCAA.com beginning at 11 a.m. ET.
