Men's Swimming Sweeps, Women Split Duals at IC Winter Invite

The Big Blue swimming teams traveled to Jacksonville, Ill. on Saturday, December 9 for a pair of duals at the Illinois College Winter Invite. In the matchups, the men were victorious in both, defeating Illinois College 93-90 and Beloit College 113-79. The women split, defeating Illinois College 133-92 and falling to Beloit College 108-130. 

In the first event of the day, Dawson Behl, Jacob Bloom, Aaron Amaya, and Jason Burrow picked up a second place finish in the 200 yard medley relay in a time of 1:48.93. On the women's side, the team of Analynn Bullock, Kendall Rossignol, Layla Walker, and Grace Meacham were the victors in a time of 2:00.86. 

The men's 200 yard freestyle saw Msanaa Bosland pick up a victory in a time of 1:57.66. On the women's side, it was Aly Barnes who recorded an individual win in a time of 2:06.93.

Behl earned an individual win in the 50 yard backstroke in a time of 24.85 while Bullock placed second on the women's side in a time of 30.95, followed by Meacham in third place in 33.30.

Kendall Rossignol placed second in the women's 50 yard breaststroke with a time of 35.95.

Bosland earned his second individual victory of the day in the men's 100 yard butterfly, winning in 59.96. Walker was the winner of the women's 100 yard butterfly race in 1:05.15.

Alexander Tabuchi placed third in the men's 50 yard freestyle race in 25.51, and on the women's side it was Erin Powell who finished third in 27.73.

Burrow was the second place finisher in the men's 100 yard freestyle, while Barnes picked up her second individual victory of the day in the women's race in a time of 59.05.

Behl won his second event of the day in the 100 yard breaststroke in a time of 1:02.17. Rossignol was second in the women's race in a time of 1:18.58. 

Bosland was second in the men's 500 yard freestyle in 5:46.89, while Shay Buchanan placed second in the women's race in a time of 6:05.99. 

Behl finished off his individual hat trick with a win in the 50 yard butterfly, followed by a similar feat in the women's race when Barnes won her third individual race of the afternoon. 

Amaya was second in the men's 100 yard IM, while Walker was the victor of the women's race in a time of 1:05.16.

The final relays of the day saw the team of Bosland, Amaya, Bloom, and Tabuchi place second in the 200 yard freestyle in a time of 1:40.98, while the women's team of Meacham, Barnes, Bullock, and Walker won the race in a time of 1:48.17. 

The Big Blue swim teams will take a short break before attending their annual training trip in Florida during early January. Their next competition date is scheduled for Friday, January 19 at Illinois Wesleyan.
