Four Millikin Volleyball Players Honored by CSC as Academic All-District

The Big Blue women's volleyball team capped off their successful 2023 campaign with an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. On Tuesday, December 12, the College Sports Communicators announced the 2023 Academic All-District selections with four Millikin volleyball players making the list.

A junior physical education major from Naperville, Ill., Kaitlyn Skowronski made the list. She appeared in all 34 matches for the Big Blue this season, tallying a total of 291 digs during the season.

Junior outside hitter Kailee Itzenhuiser was also named Academic All-District. An elementary education and special education major from Naperville, Ill., Itzenhuiser tallied 460 kills, 84 service aces, and 495 digs. She was named first team all-CCIW alongside AVCA All-Region Honorable Mention honors.

Sophia Howell, a business major from St. Louis, Mo. was also honored. The libero topped the Big Blue statistical digs category with 570 total during the season.

Delaney Higgins was the lone sophomore to earn the honors. The exploratory studies major from Milan, Mich. tallied 205 kills during the 2023 season, appearing in 34 matches for MU.

To be named to the honors, student-athletes must be of at least sophomore standing with a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and compete in 90 percent of contests played by the team or start in 66 percent of matches.
