Millikin Baseball Drops Season Opener

The Millikin University baseball team opened its 2023 season falling 4-2 at #24 East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, Texas on February 10.
 
The Tigers scored two runs in the first inning. Jase Jones doubled home the first run and Will Kelley had the second RBI of the inning. East Texas Baptist added two runs in the fourth on a two-run single by Jake Miller.
 
Millikin scored twice in the seventh. Kyle Gibson drove home the Big Blue's first run with a sacrifice fly. Junior transfer Ryan Janssen made his Millikin debut at catcher with an RBI single.
 
Both teams had five hits in the game.
 
Jacob Bailey pitched two and a third innings of scoreless relief. Drew Sutton had two scoreless innings without allowing a hit.
 
The two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday.
