Millikin Baseball Sweep Doubleheader

The Millikin University baseball team swept a doubleheader from Belhaven University on February 18 in games played at Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas. Millikin won game one 3-0 and took the second game 11-9.
 
In game one, three Millikin pitchers combined to shutout Belhaven. Starter Caleb Buehrle threw five innings allowing just two hits while striking out seven. Winning pitcher Sean Shook threw two innings allowing just one hit and Andrew Agee threw the final two scoreless innings allowing two hits.
 
Liam McGill singled home Millikin's first run in the sixth inning. The Big Blue added two more runs in the eighth. Tyler Gade led off the inning with a triple and scored on a double from McGill. Tommy Shaw's sacrifice fly scored Millikin's final run.
 
In game two, Millikin got the offense going with a three-run first inning.
The Big Blue added a single run in the second. Millikin opened up a lead with a four-run fifth and two runs in the sixth. The Big Blue's final run came in the eighth inning. Belhaven scored single runs in the first four innings before posting three runs in the six. Millikin led 11-7 in the eighth before Belhaven scored single runs in the eighth and ninth innings.
 
McGill continued his hot hitting going 3-5 scoring two runs. Shaw was 3-5 with two doubles and three RBI. Andy Neibrugge was 4-4 with two doubles and four RBI. Gade homered for Millikin.
 
Preston Conlee had two hits including a home run for the Blazers.

"We kept the pressure on the whole day and guys stepped up when we needed to. Made some clutch plays and got some big hits," said Shaw, junior captain.
 
Millikin is now 3-2 on the season while Belhaven falls to 0-5. The Big Blue will play Hendrix on Sunday.
