Millikin Pitchers Throw Combined One-Hitter in Win over Knox

Four Millikin University pitchers combined for a one hitter in a 6-1 win over Knox College on February 26 at the Workman Family Baseball Field in Decatur, Illinois.
 
Big Blue pitchers keep the Prairie Fire from getting a hit until two outs in the bottom of the ninth when Braden Ogden singled jumped off the top of the glove of a leaping shortstop Liam McGill. McGill had kept the no-hitter alive in the eighth inning getting to a ball headed up the middle and spinning and making a perfect throw for the out at first base.
 
Matt Wilson was the winning pitcher throwing six and one-thirds inning allowing one earned run on five walks while recording nine strikeouts. After battling his control in the second inning, Wilson struck out five of the six batters he faced in the third and fourth innings. Drew Sutton threw two-thirds of hitless innings with two strikeouts. Landon Johnson pitched one inning without allowing a hit. Aaron Agee pitched the final inning for Millikin.
 
Millikin got on the board in the fourth inning with freshman Sam Bushur getting a run scoring single.
 
Millikin broke the 1-1 tie in the bottom of the sixth with two runs with freshman Cayden Silvester and Tyler Gade each having an RBI single.
Millikin added two insurance runs in the seventh with Andy Niebrugge driving home a run with a sacrifice fly and Ryan Jenssen driving in one with a fielder's choice. McGill singled in the eighth and stole second scoring Millikin's final run on a Knox error.
 
Janssen and Silvester each had two hits for Millikin.
 
The Big Blue improve to 6-3 while Knox goes to 0-2.
