Millikin Baseball Downs Hope

The Millikin baseball team picked up its ninth win of the year defeating Hope College 5-1 at the Workman Family Baseball Field in Decatur, Illinois on March 11.
 
Senior pitcher Caleb Buehrle had another stellar outing for the Big Blue pitching eight innings three hits and one earned run while striking out nine.
Aaron Agee pitched a scoreless and hitless ninth inning.
 
Millikin jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Tyler Gade walked to open the inning. After a sacrifice bunt and an error by Hope put Gade on third, he stole home to score the run.
 
Hope tied the game in the second inning on a RBI single from Brenden Collins. 
 
The Big Blue scored two runs in the third. Freshmen Cayden Silvester singled and scored on a triple by freshman Sam Bushur. A Liam McGill sacrifice fly scored Bushur and gave Millikin a 3-1 lead. The Big Blue added two insurance runs in the fifth on a two-run double by Tommy Shaw.
 
Shaw and Busher each had two hits for Millikin with Busher doubling and tripling on the day.
 
Millikin is now 9-4 and is scheduled to face Hanover College in a doubleheader on March 12 at home. Hope falls to 2-4.
