Big Blue Baseball Wins at Greenville

The Millikin baseball team scored a road win at Greenville University 14-3 on March 29 in Greenville, Illinois.
 
The Big Blue opened the scoring with a single run in the first and two runs in the second to build a 3-0 lead. Millikin then put up four runs in each of the third and fourth innings to break the game open. Millikin made it 12-0 in the sixth before Greenville scored three runs in the bottom of the inning. The Big Blue closed out its scoring with two in the seventh.
 
Millikin pounded out 17 hits and drew five walks. Liam McGill went 3-5 for with five RBI to lead the Millikin offense. Sean Shook went 3-4 with a double scoring three runs and driving in three. Freshman Sam Bushur was 3-5. Tyler Gade, Cayden Silvester and Ryan Janssen each had two hits. Janssen homered for Millikin.
 
Starter Landon Johnson pitched three and a third innings without giving up a hit or a run. Max Simpson was the winner in relief throwing one and two thirds hitless innings with three strikeouts. Greenville was limited to two hits in the game.
 
Millikin is now 14-6 while Greenville goes to 7-10.
 
The Big Blue open College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) play with a weekend series against Carthage College starting on Saturday, April 1 at 1 p.m. with a doubleheader.
