Baseball Drops Conference Twin Bill

The Millikin baseball team dropped a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) road doubleheader at Augustana College on April 22 in Rock Island, Illinois. Augustana rallied late in both games to win 4-3 and 14-12.
 
In game one, Millikin lead 2-1 after three innings. The Viking put up two runs in the fourth to take a 3-2 lead. Millikin tied the game in the eighth.
Augustana scored the game winning run in the bottom of the ninth.
 
Millikin was limited to three hits in game one but took advantage of three Vikings errors. Kyle Gibson, Liam McGill and Sam Bushur had hits for the Big Blue.
 
Dymitri Kanellaki had two hits for the Vikings including the game winner in the ninth.
 
Game two was a slugfest with Millikin pounding out 15 hits while the Vikings had 13. The Big Blue had an 8-3 lead heading to the bottom of the seventh. The Vikings answered with five runs in the bottom of the inning to tie the game. Millikin responded with four runs in the top of the ninth to go back ahead 12-8. Augustana then scored six runs in the bottom of the ninth for another come from behind walk-off win.
 
Gibson led the Millikin offense going 4-5 with a home run and a triple. He scored four runs and drove in two. Andy Niebrugge had three hits including a home run. Bushur and McGill each collected two hits.
 
Chase Maifield led Augustana with three hits including a home run and seven RBI. Cole Green, Kyle Campbell, Michael Aragon each had two hits.
 
Augustana is now 25-6, 10-2 while Millikin falls to 21-11, 7-5. The teams will conclude the series on Sunday.
