Millikin Softball Sweeps Blackburn

The Millikin softball team swept a doubleheader from Blackburn College on a cold and windy day at the Workman Family Softball Field in Decatur, Illinois on April 22. The Big Blue won game one 8-0 and took game two 12-0 with both games ending in the fifth inning.
 
Millikin scored six runs in the first inning of game one and cruised to the win. Pitchers Aly Armstrong and Kelsey Bruno combined to no-hit the Beavers in five innings. Armstrong was the winning pitcher throwing four innings with five strikeouts. Bruno pitched the final inning with one strikeout.
 
Millikin's Rylee Blake opened the game with a walk and scored on a single from Leah Forman. KJ Davison singled home Maddy Regan who had singled earlier in the inning. Katie Detamore tripled home two runs to make it 4-0 Millikin. Detamore would have two hits in the game with three RBI.
Aundrea Jenkins and Blake would each have an RBI single to close out the first inning.
 
Millikin had 11 hits in the game and took advantage of six Blackburn errors.
 
Millikin opened game two with a five run first inning and would add single runs in the second and third innings. The Big Blue closed out the game with a five run fourth inning.
 
Davison and Jenkins each had two hits for Millikin with Jenkins driving in three. Kaylee Goluch had a two-run home run for Millikin.
 
Addison Sargent was the winning pitcher throwing three innings allowing two hits and striking out six. Charley Warlow threw a shutout inning and Carly Ward closed out the game with a hitless inning with two strikeouts.
 
Chelsea Ashlock had two of Blackburn's three hits.
 
Millikin is now 21-9 while Blackburn falls to 9-19.
