The Big Blue men's tennis team traveled to Naperville, Ill. over the weekend to compete in the 2023 CCIW Fall Invitational. The event features flighted singles and doubles brackets.

Millikin's Cole Phillips used a first round 6-3, 4-6, 10-6 win over North Central's Rafael Lessa, then a win over Augie's David Larraga in the second round to take a second place finish in the singles flight two. Phillips fell in the championship round to Carthage's Elios Briand in a 2-6, 3-6 competition.

Esteban Durand placed fifth in the seventh singles flight, bouncing back from a first round loss to North Central's David Vilarroig, downing Jordan Sibley-Diggs of Illinois Wesleyan in 6-0, 6-3 sets before defeating Carroll's Charlie Quast in the fifth place match 6-3, 6-2.

In doubles play, the team of Theodor Wolf and Phillips defeated an Illinois Wesleyan pair in the seventh place match of the first flight. The team of Matthew Kordesh and Durand placed sixth, downing a Carroll pair after falling in their opening round matchup of the third flight.

Big Blue men's tennis will be back in action on Saturday, September 16 when they travel to Greencastle, Ind. for the DePauw Men's Invite.
