Women's Tennis Falls to Augustana in CCIW Opener

Box Score The Big Blue women's team traveled to Rock Island, IL to take on their first CCIW matchup, Augustana Vikings. With a rain delay and site change, the Big Blue fell to the Vikings 0-9.

The Vikings earned their first victory when Cristina Borunda and Zariah Wherry at No. 2 doubles fell to the pairing of Gauerke and Huebel 4-8. At No. 1 doubles, Emily Markus and D Galvan fell to the pairing of Colbert and Hanulikova 5-8. At No. 3, Paiton Plucinski and Kaitlyn Mullins forced a tiebreaker, but fell short to the Vikings 7-8 (0).

In singles play, Markus heavily contested Huebel to force a third set, but fell short 4-6, 6-0, 8-10.

The Big Blue are back in action hosting Illinois Wesleyan at Fairview Park on Tuesday, September 19th. The Big Blue will start their first serves against the Titans at 4:00 p.m.
