Match Recap: Women's Tennis | | D Galvan- Sport Information Intern

Women's Tennis Takes Down IWU Titans

The Big Blue women's tennis team stayed at home to take on Illinois Wesleyan University on Tuesday, September 19th. The Big Blue came out on top to defeat the Titans 6-3. 

In doubles, Cristina Borunda and Zariah Wherry teamed up at No. 2. to get the lead with sweeping past More/Christian of IWU 8-0. Emily Markus and D Galvan at No.1 continued the win streak by taking down Ehrlich/Bell 8-4. Paiton Plucinski and Kaitlyn Mullins completed the sweep by defeating Wilson/Edwards 8-6.

With a 3-0 head start, Mullins earned her win at No.4 singles defeating IWU's More 6-1, 6-2. To clinch the match and securing the win, Borunda defeated Christian of IWU 7-6(3), 6-3. Plucinski added the final win for the Big Blue with a score of 6-4, 4-6, 10-2. IWU got their 3 matches with a win by Ehrlich, Bell,and Wilson at No.1, No.3, and No.6 singles. 

The Big Blue women's team improves to 2-3 on the season with a record of 1-1 in conference play. The Big Blue women's tennis team is headed to St.Louis, MO to compete in the ITA tournament September 22nd-23rd, and returning to CCIW play taking on Elmhurst University at Fairview Park on September 30th at 2:00PM.
