Late Touchdown Topples Big Blue

The Millikin football team lost to Carthage College 24-20 on October 26 at Frank M. Lindsay Field in Decatur, Illinois.
 
The game was tied at 17-17 after three quarters. Millikin took a 20-17 lead with 5:11 remaining on a 26 yard field goal from Lucas Mosqueda.
 
Carthage scored on its final possession capping a 10 play 68 yard drive with a 17-yard pass from quarterback Bryce Lowe to Gavin Betts giving the Firebirds a 24-20 advantage with 53 seconds left in the game.
 
Millikin started the game strong scoring on its first possession with a 36-yard pass from Aidan Lombardo to Chord Miller.
 
Carthage answered on its first possession with a 17-yard run by Bryce Frank.
 
Millikin posted 10 straight points to lead 17-7 at halftime. Mosqueda had a 36 yard field and Matthew Salazar had a one yard rushing touchdown for the 10 points.
 
Carthage scored 10 straight points in the third quarter on a 16 yard pass from Lowe to Frank and a 37-yard field goal from Mugdim Kreho.
 
Lombardo finished the day 7-18-1 passing for 104 yards. Bryson Boes had 81 yards on seven carries including a 68 yard run. Salazar finished with 77 yards rushing.
 
Lowe was 15-26-3 for 166 yards. Frank rushed for three touchdowns.
 
Sean Steele, Omarion Ammons and Ryan Baskerville had interceptions for the Big Blue.
 
Carthage had 372 yards in total offense while Millikin collected 237 yards.
