The men's golf team wrapped up their fall season with a strong finish at the Wabash College Fall Invitational, held at the Donald Ross designed Broadmoor Country Club in Indianapolis, Ind. Over two days, the team played 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday for a 54-hole tournament.
After a slow start in the first round with a 305 (+17), the team improved with a 297 (+9) in Round 2. In the final round, the team continued their upward momentum, shooting a 295 (+7), which catapulted them from 6th place to a 3rd place finish in a competitive 15-team field.
Leading the way for the Big Blue were graduate student Virgile Gruny and junior Luke Bradley, both tying for 10th place overall. Gruny, finishing 5 over par, shot rounds of 77, 73, and a 1-under 71 in the final round. Bradley also finished 5 over par with consistent rounds of 73, 74, and 74.
Sophomore Dominick Emig was the next best finisher for the team, placing 23rd with a 10-over-par total (77, 75, 74). Freshman Trevor Biggerstaff rounded out the team's top performances, tying for 31st with a 14-over-par total (78, 75, 77).
The team's ability to battle back on a tough golf course and secure a 3rd place finish was a strong way to close out the fall season.
