Slow Start Dooms Women’s Basketball

The Millikin women's basketball team couldn't overcome a slow start falling at Loras College 64-51 in Dubuque, Iowa on November 22.
 
Millikin went scoreless for the first three minutes of the game and trailed at the end of the first quarter 18-8. Millikin got the offense going in the second quarter shooting 5-11 (45.5 percent) from the field and going 3-3 from three-point range. The Big Blue out scored the Duhawks in the quarter and trailed 28-21 at halftime. Loras had a five point scoring edge in the third quarter and a one point advantage in the fourth period to hold on for the 13 point win.
 
Millikin shot 20-58 (34.5 percent) from the field and went 4-16 (25 percent) from three-point range. Loras hit on 24-50 (48 percent) from the field and made 9-24 from three-point range. The Duhawks won the rebounding battle 35-26.
 
Emily White led Millikin with 12 points and five rebounds. Matayia Tellis had nine points and four rebounds.
 
Claire Wagner led Loras with 14 points and eight rebounds.
